How my journey began

The backstory…

Background: Years of Experience

From hobby to career…

My love for photography started at the adolescent age of 10. I learned to snap a photo with a simple 35mm point and shoot disposable camera. Film was what everyone used back then before digital was a thing. I would take photos of everything. The mundane moments, holidays, birthdays, even “selfies” (before it was a real word). I would get lost in reliving nostalgia that came with every image. The idea of being able to capsulate a memory that was not just in your mind, but physically in stillness with an image intrigued me. Noticing the intrigue, my grandparents would often gift me cameras and I would take up photography as a hobby with a regular pocket sized point and shoot camera. It was not until my first year of college did I take on photography as more than just a hobby and bought my first DSLR. It has been 10+ years since I took this on professionally. I have photographed it all from weddings events to commercial work, as well as, fashion portraiture. It’s crazy to think it took me over a decade to then come full circle back to “documentary/ lifestyle ” photos. The photos where you can look back and remember that specific memory as it really was and not the noise we have to put around us for everyone else.

My Why

Things need to change and I wanted to help change the perspective.

Growing up I saw a linage of women in my family struggle with self love and/or self care. I remember feeling confused when I would hear negative self-talk audibility in front of me and see beautiful souls before me. Yet, in turn I too did the same. Through my own journey I became aware of the pattern and connected the dots. I became aware of how there was another way to be with yourself. With anything in life, when something life changing happens you want to tell the world and let them know that life truly isn’t a fixed choice or way of living.

With my photography, I wanted to use my service to continue to be part of the movement that continue to empower the women that claims herself with love and grace. To not be judged by the past of the world and honor the beauty that in the present and acceptance of herself. To feel so confident she gives herself permission to truly celebrate her divinity just because she says so.

I’ve known Carolyn for years and she’s truly one of the most gentle, kind, hardworking, and talented photographers I know. I’ve done a couple shoots with her and have had a blast each time. She’s professional and makes you feel comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera. I’ve done fashion, film and artistic nude photography with her and all of the final products were magical. She’s a lovely, empathetic human being. Not only does she communicate her vision clearly but she also listens intently, to create a happy atmosphere and beautiful pictures. Simply the best.
